Pearson's CourseConnect Gets ACE Approval

The American Council on Education's College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT) has added courses from Pearson to its list of recommended educational resources for adult learners. People who take online courses through Pearson's CourseConnect may be eligible to receive transfer credit for them at institutions that are part of the ACE CREDIT College and University Network.

CourseConnect consists of a library of customizable online classes with recommended course descriptions, syllabus material, lessons containing rich media and activities, discussion questions, and assessment banks. It can be used by individual instructors teaching online only or in blended classes, or as complete programs by institutions. The courses are designed to "plug and play" within the major learning management systems and to have additional materials added to them through the LMS. Version 2 was announced in April 2011.

"In order to compete in the global marketplace, our country needs to significantly increase the number of Americans with postsecondary degrees," said Molly Broad, ACE president. "The [ACE] CREDIT Program is proud to be an important part of that work by evaluating and recommending college credit for programs like CourseConnect."

CourseConnect is in use by instructors at, among others, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Lone Star College-Kingwood in Texas, and Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI.
