University College Expands Student Services to Facebook and Mobile Devices
University College at Texas Tech University is using RightNow Technologies customer relationship suite to connect and provide services to students through Facebook and mobile devices. RightNow is in the process of being acquired by Oracle.
The move reflects a growing trend among higher education institutions to engage and interact with students via their preferred devices and social media channels.
RightNow CX for Facebook enables University College students to not only stay abreast of what's happening in school, but also get answers and help from the "Support" feature of the school's Facebook page. Users can browse topics and perform keyword searches to get answers from the knowledge base and community. Students can find information on programs, classes, transfer requirements, advisors, and more, all without leaving Facebook.
With RightNow Mobile, current and prospective students can access University College's knowledge base to get information on admissions, programs, and courses from any desktop, notebook, or mobile device. The move has resulted in improved student services at the institution, according to a statement issued by RightNow. After deployment, the school realized a 99.1 percent Web self-service rate and a 19 percent decrease in call center activity.
