Largest Coalition of Coding Bootcamps to Publish Data on Job Outcomes

Fifteen coding bootcamps, or accelerated computer programming programs, have formed a new coalition and announced their commitment to publish student graduation and job placement data in a single, standardized framework. In a move to be fully transparent, the 17-member Council on Integrity in Results Reporting (CIRR) is also mandating truth in advertising disclosures on all outcomes data promoted in marketing and admissions materials.

CIRR members will release graduation and job placement data on a semi-annual basis. The first round of results from 2016 will be published on March 29, in accordance with CIRR definitions, documentation and validation requirements. The reporting will be publically available on the individual members’ websites.

The 15 bootcamps that have signed on as CIRR members are:

• Code Fellows (Portland, OR and Seattle, WA);
• Codeup (Antonio, TX);
• DevMountain (Provo and Salt Lake City, UT and Dallas, TX);
• Epicodus (Portland, OR and Seattle, WA);
• Fullstack Academy (New York, NY and Chicago, IL);
• Grand Circus (Detroit, MI);
• Hackbright Academy (San Francisco, CA);
• Hack Reactor (San Francisco and Los Angeles, CA, Austin, TX, New York, NY and online);
• Ironhack (Miami, FL, Madrid and Barcelona, Spain);
• RefactorU (Boulder, CO and online);
• Sabio (Los Angeles and Newport Beach, CA and Seattle, WA);
• The Software Guild (Akron, OH, Louisville, KT, Minneapolis, MN and online);
• Thinkful (online);
• Turing School of Software & Design (Denver, CO); and
• Wyncode (Miami, FL).

In addition, Course Report and Skills Fund joined CIRR. The former offers reviews and reports on coding bootcamps, while the latter is an Austin-based student financing and quality assurance entity leading the CIRR effort.

Students have realistic, verifiable expectations from the get-go.”

Over the past three years, we've seen various bootcamp trade associations and reporting methodologies emerge, but CIRR is the first to bring a group of high-quality, committed schools together to decide on and enact a common outcomes rubric,” commented Liz Eggleston, co-founder of Course Report, in a statement. “While the coding  bootcamp industry is still relatively nascent, the most successful schools have clearly proven that they can deliver results that their students expect; uniformity across reporting aims to do just that.”
