Large-Scale Esports Series Launches in Partnership with College Bookstores

Students participating in the AVGL Masters: Campus Gaming Series will register for the tournament by visiting their campus bookstore and then compete online on BoomTV.

The Independent College Bookstore Association (ICBA) is collaborating with the American Video Game League (AVGL) to develop the AVGL Masters: Campus Gaming Series. Student gamers will be required to register for the Fortnite tournament on campus at their college bookstore.

The esports competition will take place online on BoomTV and the top players will "win the ability to 'gamify' their dorm room with a substantial prizing package including a gaming laptop, monitor, peripherals, backpack and router."

The pilot tournament will take place on Nov. 23, with a large-scale tournament series to follow in spring 2020. The participating schools for the pilot are Kennesaw State University, North Carolina State University, Oklahoma State University, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Maine, University of Minnesota, University of Pittsburgh and Western Kentucky University.

Acer is donating its Predator Triton 500 gaming notebook and Predator XB1 gaming monitor to the prize package. Other brands supporting the series include Belkin International, Mobile Edge, HP and Patriot's Viper Gaming.
