New Vanderbilt Instructional Design Support Center to Ease Faculty Transition to Online Teaching

Vanderbilt University has announced a new Instructional Design Support Center focused on improving online teaching and course quality. The institution is working with instructional design firm iDesign to provide faculty with a variety of real-time services and support, including access to resources on online teaching and course design, instructional design support services and troubleshooting, and templates for the school's learning management system.

Faculty will also be able to access iDesign's Online Teaching Bootcamp, a sequence of short-form courses covering best practices in remote teaching.

"Recent months have reaffirmed the critical importance of faculty-led innovation, resilience and collaboration, especially in today's difficult and unusual circumstances," said Tracey George, vice provost for Faculty Affairs at Vanderbilt University, in a statement. "As educators and students alike navigate uncertain times, this on-demand support center will provide an invaluable service for educators at Vanderbilt, helping them build their capacity, overcome hurdles to online instruction and refine their teaching practice in an online or hybrid teaching environment."
