East Mississippi CC Uses Mobile Tech to Guide Students Through Admissions Process
In an effort to grow its online programs, East Mississippi Community College has rolled out mobile enrollment technology from Perdia Education that helps guide prospective students from their initial inquiry to the first day of class. The company's Emma platform serves as a "personal assistant" for students, offering personalized information as they progress through each step of the admissions process, delivered via mobile app.
Emma uses artificial intelligence to interact with students, help them request and upload documents, interview them and qualify eligibility, answer questions, guide course selections and more. Students can use the platform to research degree programs, match programs with their academic goals, and compare their educational history to program requirements. "This enables institutions to accelerate online enrollments," according to the company, "by connecting with prospective online students on their mobile devices at their exact time and point of need, 24/7, 365 days a year." In addition, analytics gathered throughout a student's admissions journey can help institutions fine-tune their marketing and recruitment efforts.
"As a national leader in high-tech workforce development, we're thrilled that EMCC is at the cutting-edge of mobile enrollment technology," said EMCC President Scott Alsobrooks, in a statement. "We look forward to further building out our successful implementation of Emma to connect with prospective online students and help them start their education on the right foot by providing an exceptional enrollment experience."
