Ellucian Officially Acquires Anthology's SIS and ERP Business
The strategic restructuring announced by Anthology in October is playing out as planned, with Ellucian completing its acquisition of Anthology's Student Information Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning business on Dec. 31.
Background
In the October restructuring, Anthology announced it would divest its Enterprise Operations, Lifecycle Engagement, and Student Success businesses and filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in an effort to right-size its finances and focus on its core teaching and learning products. Ellucian stepped up as the "stalking horse" bidder for the company's Enterprise Operations products, while Encoura agreed to serve as the stalking horse bidder for the Lifecycle Engagement business, including Anthology Encompass, Reach, Advance, as well as the Student Success business.
Customer Implications
With the Ellucian acquisition complete, more than 260 Anthology SIS and ERP customers will now join Ellucian's global community. Ellucian said it will "continue to deliver and maintain Anthology's existing SIS and ERP systems, providing stability for customers while expanding access to Ellucian's broader technology and services ecosystem and deep higher education expertise."
Executive View
"This acquisition marks an important moment for Ellucian as we extend our vision — to unlock learning for all — to an even broader community of institutions and learners," commented Laura Ipsen, president and CEO of Ellucian, in a statement. "As we welcome Anthology's SIS and ERP customers and the teams who serve them to Ellucian, we remain focused on continuity, a seamless transition, and empowering learners for a lifetime of education."
Looking Ahead
Encoura's acquisition of Anthology's Lifecycle Engagement and Student Success business is expected to close in early 2026.
