Origami: Microsoft's Itty-Bitty Computer

We want one. Right now. Microsoft’s new computer is about the size of a large paperback book but runs a full version of the Windows XP operating system. The ultracompact, wireless-enabled PC is everything a full computer or laptop is, minus the keyboard. Weighing about 2-1/2 pounds, the 1-inch thick device sports a 7-inch touch-sensitive screen that responds to a stylus or the tap of a finger. (Wired)

CMU Raising Sims

Carnegie Mellon University has partnered with Electronic Arts Inc. to diversify computer training curriculum with video game characters. The partnership will take the popular Sims video game characters and integrate them into a free software application that is used to teach programming skills to high school and college students. The idea is to make the lessons livelier and less confusing for all students. (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review)
