Toshiba Debuts Sub-$1,000 WXGA Projector

Toshiba has rolled out a new widescreen projector, a sub-$1,000 LCD model with a native WXGA (1,280 x 800) resolution, a brightness of 2,200 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 600:1. The portable (6.2-pound), three-panel TLP-WX2200U LCD projector is targeted toward educators and presentation professionals.

The new TLP-WX2200U offers a new security feature that includes a password-protected control panel that can be removed. Once removed, the projector is rendered inoperable. Some of its other features include:

  • Automatic vertical keystone correction (±30 degrees);
  • I/O: D-sub 15-pin (shared component), S-video, composite video (RCA), stereo mini-jack, RS-232;
  • Color enhancement via Natural Color Enhancer3 color correction circuitry;
  • Automatic setup;
  • Digital zoom;
  • Instant power shutdown; and
  • HDTV compatibility.

The TLP-WX2200U can switch between its native 16:10 aspect ration and the old 4:3 standard aspect ratio. It's available now at an estimated single-unit price of $999.
