St. Bernard Debuts h-Series Security Appliances
St. Bernard Software this week launched a new line of security appliances, the new iPrism h-Series. Designed for enterprises of all sizes, the new models boast a 200 percent performance increase over their predecessors, according to the company.
The new iPrism models, available in five configurations (the iPrism 10h, 20h, 30h, 50h, and 100h), target risks associated with Web, instant messaging, and P2P applications.
The individual model names refer to throughput in Mbps (10 Mbps for the 10h, 100 Mbps for the 100h). The 10h and 20h are mini-1U rackmount units sporting an Intel Celeron D and Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz processor, respectively. Both models come equipped with one 80 GB SATA drive and either 512 MB RAM (10h) or 1 GB RAM (20h).
The higher-end 30h, 50h, and 100h are al 1U rackmount units with multiple internal SATA drives (two 250 GB drives on the 30h and 50h and two 500 GB drives on the 100h) and a 3ware 9500-2LP RAID controller. The 30h includes 1 GB RAM and is powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel dual-core Xeon processor. The 50h includes 2 GB RAM standard and sports a 2 GHz Intel quad-core Xeon processor. The top of the line 100h comes stock with 4 GB RAM and dual quad-core 3 GHz Intel Xeon processors. All of the models run on iPrism software, which is being updated to version 6.0 this quarter.
The iPrism 10h, 20h, 30h, 50h, and 100h appliances are available now starting at $1,200. Upgrades to the h-Series and iPrism 6.0 software will be available this quarter.
