Cengage Completes Acquisition of Houghton Mifflin College Division, Expands Offerings
Print and digital instruction and reference materials provider
Cengage Learning announced Monday that it has completed its acquisition of
Houghton Mifflin College Division
(HM College). After announcing the agreement to acquire HM College in
December, the company recently received the regulatory clearances
required to close the deal.
The HM College assets will
significantly expand the range of materials Cengage Learning provides
to students and faculty at two- and four-year institutions and will
include textbooks, study guides, custom publications, and a range of
digital solutions, according to the company.
"The acquisition of
Houghton Mifflin's highly regarded College Division moves us closer to
our goal of being the most respected and innovative source of teaching
and learning solutions for the academic market," said Ronald Dunn,
President and CEO of Cengage Learning, in a June 2 statement. "By
combining the talents of the employees and authors of HM College with
those of the people at Cengage Learning, we can make use of best
practices in both organizations to significantly enhance the
educational solutions and services we provide to our customers
worldwide."
Cengage Learning provides customized learning
solutions to education institutions, government organizations, and
corporations around the world. The assets from HM College will be
integrated into the company's Academic & Professional Group.
