Duke Deploys Portal from To Manage Board Business

Duke University has selected BoardVantage for the electronic distribution of written materials to the University's Board of Trustees.

BoardVantage sells secure portals and security mechanisms for boards and executives. Its Director Suite provides online access for board materials from a browser. Participants receive alerts via e-mail that new content have been posted to the portal and can add private, personal notes to materials online and offline. The system allows users to store encrypted documents in a password-protected folder on a desktop for offline review. The suite includes Web-conferencing, as well as a shared calendar and central address book.

"With 36 trustees spread across--and beyond--the U.S., including many who travel extensively, distribution of our board materials was becoming increasingly complex," said Richard V. Riddell, VP and university secretary. "We expect this will enhance the effectiveness of communication with our trustees, reaching them wherever they are and whenever these volunteers are able to devote time to Duke business. I also see electronic distribution of board materials as an environmentally sensible substitute for the costly and resource-intensive shipments of board books across the country."
