Citrix has launched a new program to get its technology into college courses. The company's new Student Technology Education Program (STEP) provides access to training and certification on Citrix virtualization solutions.
Through STEP eligible college students and faculty will receive free self-paced online technical training to introduce students to Citrix XenServer, a server virtualization platform. In addition, the company is offering a free voucher for the Citrix XenServer certification exam to a thousand participants. Those who pass this exam obtain a Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA) for XenServer designation.
"With the current state of the global economy, the job market has become increasingly competitive," said Julieann Scalisi, managing director of worldwide education for Citrix. "I'm hoping that all eligible students take advantage of it. Including this certification on their resumes is an excellent way for job candidates to stand out to hiring managers and prospective employers."
The company also makes its base version of the Citrix XenServer platform available as a free download, enabling faculty to integrate the product into computer labs and classrooms.
