Sitting Bull College in Fort Yates, ND and Virginia Union University in Decatur, GA have both adopted the Jenzabar EX enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
Sitting Bull is the 15th institution to join a consortium of tribal colleges using Jenzabar EX. The college purchased the software to gather institutional-wide data in real time, with the hope of improving administrative operations and delivering a higher level of student service. Administrators said they were also impressed with the Jenzabar team that developed a custom phased implementation process.
"Jenzabar was the ideal solution for Sitting Bull because of their experience accommodating the unique needs of tribal colleges," said Koreen Ressler, vice president of academics. "Jenzabar's ERP system will allow us to effectively manage data in a single database and help us streamline operations across the entire campus."
Virginia Union switched to Jenzabar software after experiencing a disappointing and lengthy implementation with another software vendor that wasn't satisfying the various needs of offices across campus, the university said in a statement. The university combined Jenzabar EX, which runs on Microsoft SQL Server, and the Jenzabar Internet Campus Solution (JICS) portal to provide self-service capabilities to users.
"With the largest freshman class the university has seen in five years this fall semester, it was crucial to go live on our administrative system to provide convenient services to students and staff," said Robert Gray, director of IT at Virginia Union U. "Jenzabar delivered on everything that was promised and exceeded our expectations."
