Einztein Launches Education Search Guide
Einztein, a nonprofit that offers online search services focused on education content, is launching a public beta of an online course library. The library offers 2,000 complete courses, all in a variety of electronic formats and "curated by an editorial team of Ph.D. resident scholars for quality and relevance," according to the company.
The library is an effort to compile online courses that "meet a quality threshold based on what learners are looking for when they initiate an online search," according to CEO Marco Masoni. "Search engines have inherent limitations when it comes to filtering content and discovering useful academic courses, and these shortcomings aren't being adequately addressed elsewhere."
The course library consists of a wide range of courses falling into 38 categories. Courses range from astronomy and chemistry to English and physics, and all are full semester courses or lecture series. The courses were compiled from more than 100 individual institutions, including MIT, Stanford University, Open University, and others.
The individual courses also include content in a range of formats, including podcasts, streaming video, and other formats. Content can be filtered by media type, as well as provider, subject, and tags.
Einztein said it's also developing a suite of social tools for academics called Einztein the Knowledge Network. It's expected to be introduced later this year.
