HP this week introduced a new entry-level model in its Z family of workstations. The company also refreshed its EliteBook mobile workstation family with three new models.

The Z210 Workstation, which will be available in two form factors--a convertible minitower and HP's small form factor--will be customizable with processors ranging from Intel's i3, i5, and i7 dual- and quad-core chips to the quad-core, 3.5 GHz Intel Xeon E3-1280. It supports up to 32 GB of 1,333 MHz DDR3 RAM (four slots); up to 1.5 TB internal SATA drive at 7,200 RPM or 600 GB at 10,000 RPM (as well as solid state drive options); Blue-ray writer; a range of graphics options, from bare-bones integrated chips to higher-end 3D cards, including the 2 GB Nvidia Quadro 4000; PCIe and PCI slots; and a wide range of AV and networking ports, including gigabit Ethernet, 14 USB 2.0 ports, audio and mic I/O, 22-in-one media card reader; and other options.

The Z210 is expected to ship this spring starting at $659 for the Z210 convertible minitower and $569 for the Z210 small form factor model (which supports less RAM, only low-profile PCIe/PCI slots, and lower-end graphics cards). HP also introduced three new EliteBook mobile workstations, the company's line of high-end laptops targeted toward compute-intensive tasks like animation, video production, post-production, and CAD. All of the models ship with Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processors (up to 2.5 GHz).

The 17.3-inch (LED-backlit HD) 8760w supports up to 32 GB 1,333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM and offers an optional 4 GB Nvidia Quadro 5010M; up to 750 internal 7,200 RPM drive (or 256 GB solid state drive); USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports; VGA and DisplayPort; audio and mic I/O; HD Webcam; 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, HSPA/HSPA+, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR; eight-cell battery; Blu-ray/DVD drive; and various card readers.

The 15.6-inch (LED-backlit 1,920 x 1,080 or 1,600 x 900) 8560w also supports up to 32 GB 1,333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM and offers an optional 2 GB Nvidia Quadro 2000M; up to 750 internal 7,200 RPM drive (or 256 GB solid state drive); USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports; VGA and DisplayPort; audio and mic I/O; HD Webcam; 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, HSPA/HSPA+/LTE mobile broadband, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR; eight-cell battery; Blu-ray/DVD drive; and various card readers.

The 14-inch (LED-backlit HD) 8460w supports up to 16 GB 1,333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM (two slots rather than four) and comes with a 1 GB AMD FirePro M3900 graphics card; up to 750 internal 7,200 RPM drive (or 160 GB solid state drive); USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports; VGA and DisplayPort; audio and mic I/O; HD Webcam; 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, HSPA/HSPA+, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR; eight-cell battery; Blu-ray/DVD drive; and various card readers.

All of the EliteBook mobile workstations will be available in May. Base configurations will run $1,899 for the 17.3-inch 8760w, $1,349 for the 15.6-inch 8560w, and $1,299 for the 14-inch 8460w.

In other HP news, the company this week also introduced a new print service for iOS devices. The HP ePrint service app supports iPhone, iPod, and iPad and allows users to HP ePrint mobile print locations. Users can print clipboard contents, Web pages, stored images, and other types of documents and can find locations via a directory or using GPS. ePrint locations include FedEx offices, some hotels, and other locations. The app can be downloaded free of charge from the iTunes App Store here. Printing costs vary by location.
