Samsung Techwin Releases New Compact Document Camera

Samsung Techwin's has unveiled a new document camera that includes live full-motion video. The Ridgefield Park, NJ-based company will give demonstrations of the Samsung SDP-760 at the International Society for Technology in Education Annual Conference & Exposition in San Diego, CA from June 24 to 27 at booth No. 4529.

The Samsung SDP-760, developed by the Electronic Imaging Division, includes native high-definition output of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second. It is compatible with interactive whiteboards that use the Samsung Viewer App. It also can be used as a webcam with programs including lecture capture applications, Adobe Connect, Skype, and Safari Montage.

Other features of the SDP-760 include:

  • An 8x digital zoom lens;
  • Dual noise reduction technology;
  • A built-in LED lamp, for use when more lighting is necessary; and
  • A weighted base, threaded socket, and Kensington port.

Other components include a flexible gooseneck, which provides flexibility for teachers to present items of a variety of sizes; an oversized control wheel; two-stage buttons, including lamp, mask, auto focus, and manual focus; a rotate button, to digitally shift images up to 180 degrees; auto white balance; zoom, and brightness.

The SDP-760 outputs VGA and composite video, and has a USB 2.0 port. It is compatible with both Windows and iOS.

The document camera costs $499 and will be available for shipping in August and includes a five-year Samsung warranty.
