Blackboard Learn Adds NCATE Integration

Blackboard has integrated standards for teacher preparation from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) into Blackboard Learn.

Founded in 1954 and recognized by the United States Department of Education as the accrediting body for schools, colleges, and departments of education, NCATE currently accredits more than 750 colleges of education.

The integration is designed to make it "easier for instructors in teacher preparation programs to link their courses and content to the skills and knowledge included in the NCATE standards," according to information released by the organizations. The move will also allow program administrators to "create and measure curriculum alignment to standards" more easily in an effort to streamline the accreditation process.

"We are delighted to work with Blackboard to help our members readily access and measure standards directly within their online learning environment," said NCATE President James Cibulka. "Through this partnership, the standards measurement process is made easier so they may focus on meeting standards and helping students succeed."

Available for Blackboard Learn 9.1 Service Pack 8 and higher, the standards must be downloaded and installed from support site Behind the Blackboard.
