Gale Adds More National Geographic Content to Virtual Library

Instructors, librarians, students, and researchers will have access to a new collection of books, articles, videos, maps, and other resources culled from the collection of National Geographic. Education publisher Gale, which is part of Cengage Learning, has launched National Geographic: People, Animals, and the World. The content includes:

  • Books on travel, science, technology, history, environment, animals, photography, and world cultures;
  • The full text of National Geographic Traveler magazine from 2010 to the present;
  • 325 videos on multiple topics from animals to travel;
  • 655 color maps and atlases; and
  • 600 downloadable images.

The latest collection is the third National Geographic offering included in Gale's portfolio. The company previously published digital editions of National Geographic Magazine Archive, 1888-1994 and National Geographic Magazine Archive, 1995-Current.

"These resources challenge all users to think about the world from multiple perspectives, such as comparing first-hand accounts with contemporary news coverage, while multimedia helps keep them engaged and enlivens learning and understanding," said Jim Draper, vice president of product strategy and content development for Gale.
