Echo360 Releases Analytic Tool To Track Real-Time Student Activity

Echo360 has added an analytics tool designed to help higher-education instructors track real-time student activity before, during, and after class.

Part of Echo360's active learning platform designed to provide options for universities to offer flipped, blended, and integrated classrooms, distance learning, and massive open online courses (MOOCs), the digital student analytics tool provides real-time information to instructors about student participation, identifies where learners may be having difficulty, and measures student engagement.

Instantaneous analytical data on the tool's dashboard allows instructors to assess individual students or class-wide issues in and outside of class. Collected data and classroom analytics help teachers make ongoing course adjustments as necessary, monitor student progress, and provide immediate feedback.

Using the Echo360 analytics tool, instructors can:

  • Monitor in-class participation via polls, quizzes, and note taking;
  • View video heat maps;
  • Bookmark reporting and discussion topics;
  • Observe presentation view counts, completion rates, and trends; and
  • Access analysis reports or daily report cards of in-class activities.

"For centuries, exams were an instructor's only tool to determine a student's progress in a course. Learning issues that could be rectified often went unidentified until it was too late," said Fred Singer, CEO of Echo360, in a prepared statement. "With Student Analytics available in the Echo360 active learning solution, instructors can now examine student engagement and instantly respond to student feedback. Long term, this data can be used as predictors for academic success and retention."

Developed by educators, Echo360's active learning platform provides blended learning solutions and lecture capture applications designed to enhance instruction, promote student-teacher interaction, and boost student learning in more than 500 universities in 30 countries. Although Echo360 currently focuses primarily on the higher education market, the company is planning pilot programs for the government and corporate markets this year. For more information, visit echo360.com.
