Arkansas State U Expands Online Degree Offerings
Arkansas State University has launched
four new bachelor's degree programs that are entirely online. The university
now offers a total of seven online bachelor's degree programs and numerous
online master's degree programs.
The university is expanding its online degree offerings in an effort to
attract working adults who may already have some higher education courses and
want to complete a degree. To that end, Arkansas State University's new online
bachelor's degree programs "accept as many transfer credits as possible to help
students make the most of college credits already earned," according to a press
release from the university. However, even students without any previous
college education can complete their entire degree program through A-State
Online.
Arkansas State's new online programs include:
- Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, with a focus on interpersonal,
professional and mass media communications;
- Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, which includes courses about underlying
causes of crime, the effect of socio-economic inequality on crime and the
effect of social changes on crime rates;
- Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, which covers modern political
theory, constitutional law, legal writing, research and advocacy; and
- Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, which covers the science of human
responses and adaptations to society.
The university's other fully online bachelor's degree programs include a
Bachelor of General Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary
Studies. The university also offers an online program that enables registered
nurses to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, numerous online
master's degrees in education, and online master's degrees in public
administration and sport administration.
Arkansas State U worked with Academic Partnerships, an online service
provider for higher education, to offer these online degree programs. Academic
Partnerships collaborates with the university's faculty members to help them
transform their curriculum into "best-practice formats for online delivery."
Academic Partnerships also helps recruit students and provide ongoing support
for students while they complete their degrees.
