Instructure Taps Barnes & Noble Education Analytics Tool

The companies have partnered to integrate an analytics tool within Instructure’s LMS to help support student outcomes and retention.

Instructure, creator of the learning management system Canvas, is teaming up with Barnes & Noble Education (BNED) to utilize the latter’s analytics system.

Canvas now has full integration with LoudCloud’s LoudSight learning analytics solution, allowing institutions to align and share course and usage data across systems. With the integration, schools can gain “a more comprehensive view of the student journey, which will enable these institutions to improve student engagement and better support educational needs,” according to a news release.

BNED is a contract operator of bookstores on college and university campuses across the country, as well as a provider of digital education services. The company currently serves more than 5 million students and faculty members across 751 campus stores nationwide.

“Canvas’ open source model enables a seamless integration with LoudSight ... and our ability to provide real-time insights throughout a student’s journey will be invaluable to our mission of driving student success,” said Kanuj Malhotra, COO of digital education and CSO of BNE, in a statement.

Further information about LoudCloud is available on the BNED site, and information about the Canvas LMS is available on the Canvas site.
