U South Florida to Offer Free Coding Program, Bootcamp to Students and Alumni

The University of South Florida (USF) has teamed with a private partner to offer students free access to an online coding program and the opportunity to attend an immersive coding bootcamp.

Students and alumni interested in coding can now join RevaturePro Online, a platform designed for beginning to advanced coding students. "Its innovative courses teach front-end development languages, such as Microsoft.NET and Java, through guided projects and assessments," according to a news release. "Students progress through the program at their own pace while receiving mentorship from industry leaders, continuing education and new skillsets, which they can add to their resume."

The bootcamp is a 12-week program held at the company's Virginia headquarters. USF students and graduates who hold STEM degrees or have completed RevaturePro Online automatically qualify for an interview to attend the bootcamp. Those who are selected will attend for free and receive housing and a weekly allowance for living expenses.

"With technology integral to business globally, we believe everyone, from any major, can benefit from learning coding skills," said Russ Coughenour, USF assistant vice president of career services, in a prepared statement. "USF is dedicated to facilitating powerful solutions, like these innovative programs offered by Revature, which will help our students and alumni launch rewarding careers and thrive in the workforce of tomorrow."
