Schoology LMS Adds Enhanced Assessment Questions

Schoology is rolling out enhanced question types to its learning management system (LMS), in an effort to give educators more flexibility to assess and impact individual student progress.

The company has built out a new workflow designed to make it easier for teachers to create engaging assessments, as well as better prepare students for online testing throughout the year. More than 15 new question types such as fill-in-the-blank, short answer and shared passages will be added to the Text/Quiz tool in the LMS, according to the announcement. In addition, users will be able to label and highlight images and text, and use other tech enhancements.

"Schoology's new assessments will really help teachers make assessments more than just tests," said Melissa Stanton, intervention specialist and iPad teacher at Liberty-Benton Middle School (OH), in the announcement. "The additional question types are amazing and I love the new accessibility features that will allow my students to have some ownership in what they need. I see so many possibilities in the classroom."

The upgrade will be deployed this summer at the fourth annual  Schoology NEXT user conference, taking place July 24-26 in Chicago. Further information is available on the Schoology site.
