Microsoft Intros New AI-Powered Teaching and Learning Tools

Microsoft has unveiled a number of updates bringing AI-powered experiences to teaching and learning. New features include a "Teach" AI tool for Copilot, a "Study and Learn" AI agent, and more.

Rolling out at no cost for education customers, Teach is an AI tool within the Microsoft 365 Copilot App that helps create lesson plans; draft materials like quizzes and rubrics; modify the language, reading level, length, and difficulty of learning content; and align content to relevant standards.

Coming to preview in November 2025, Study and Learn is an AI tool for students designed to provide adaptive experiences and foster critical and reflective thinking. Students can generate practices exercises, study specific topics, or engage with built-in activities like flashcards, matching, fill-in-the-blank, or quizzes. Study and Learn will be available at no additional cost.

In addition, a new academic offering for Microsoft 365 Copilot will be available in December 2025, priced at $18 per user per month for educators, staff, and students ages 13 and older. Copilot's generative AI tools combine institutional and user data — documents, presentations, e-mails, meetings, chats, etc. — with information from the web to deliver detailed responses with sources, the company explained. Users will also have access to advanced tools such as Researcher and Analyst, Copilot Tuning, and the Copilot Control System.
