Equipped for HDTV
Presentation and display vendor Elmo USA has introduced the P100 document
camera, an HDTV-ready model that captures and displays objects in real time with smooth, naturalmoving
30 fps output, SXGA resolution, and accurate color. A PC can be linked to the document
camera via USB 2.0 port, so presenters can store or annotate still images,
and a built-in SD card slot enables stored-image slide shows (without a
PC). The P100 also includes a built-in LCD color monitor on the stage, and
a light box for transparencies. MSRP: $3,850.
Text and RSS for CRM
Hobsons EMT, a developer of web-based software solutions for the admissions
office, has added text message and RSS feed capabilities to its EMT Connect e-communication and data management system. The text message
component allows schools to send students and parents trackable,
personalized messages about upcoming events, impending deadlines, and
application status. With the RSS feed component, institutions can give students and parents real-time updates about preselected
topics, and can notify constituents when the school’s website publishes information about a topic of interest. Annual
license fee per component: $2,500; additional $0.10 per-message cost for text messaging.
A Virtual Workspace
Kidaro, a provider of enterprise virtual desktop computing solutions, has

users, on- or off-site. The solution encapsulates selected resources and tools
(OS, applications, IT/IS management software, and remote access clients)
into a centrally controlled, protected, and isolated workspace. A unified management
console allows IT administrators to create, deploy, and update virtual machines, monitor active users, and generate
audit trails and reports. Priced per user/virtualized machine.
