Digital Arts Alliance Adds Fordham U
The Digital Arts Alliance, a consortium led by the Pearson Foundation that promotes digital arts in K-12 education, is expanding its membership with the addition of Fordham University. This follows on the heels of three other organizations joining the group back in July--the National Education Association (NEA) Foundation, the Foundation for Investor Education, and Employers For Education Excellence (E3).
The Digital Arts Alliance provides schools and community organizations with fully funded and staffed arts programs. As a new member, Fordham University will provide digital storytelling workshops for teachers and students in New York through its new 21st Century Learning Center. It also hosted an event this weekend called the "First Bronx Technology Collaborative Annual Conference."
"In the Digital Arts Alliance, we strive to join with leaders in every aspect of education, media and technology to support students, document examples of successful teaching practices, and foster the development of confident school leaders," said Mark Nieker, president of the Pearson Foundation, in a prepared statement. Working together with Fordham University through the Bronx Technology Collaborative Annual Conference and their 21st Century Learning Center, we can support teachers and students of New York. We welcome Fordham University to the Digital Arts Alliance partnership."
Other members of the Digital Arts Alliance include Nokia, Adobe, the National Academy Foundation, Facing History and Ourselves, The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), The Jane Goodall Institute, Peachpit, Phi Delta Kappa International, Pearson Education, and the American Red Cross. ISTE operates the Digital Arts Alliance Leadership Institute program, which "cultivates leadership teams across the United States in partnership with ISTE regional affiliates and supports new, innovative digital arts programs in participating school districts."
