Universities Revamp Admissions and Financial Aid Systems

Two University of Texas campuses--UT Dallas and UT Tyler--and two University of Wisconsin campuses--UW Stout and UW LaCrosse--have recently begun implementing Oracle PeopleSoft Campus applications. All are now running admissions and financial aid programs from Oracle that were set up by Ciber, a systems integration and outsourcing firm with headquarters in Colorado. When the implementations are completed, they'll also encompass student records and student financials.

"One of the long-term benefits of partnering with Ciber is the security of knowing the consultants focus on more than the implementation of the moment," said Richard Huckaba, associate provost and project manager at UT Dallas. "They also look toward post-implementation with an eye to ensuring that local functional and technical staff is fully prepared to manage the project on their own. We've had excellent help and excellent results."

"Ciber, as a partner, understood UW's needs," said Ed Meachen, associate vice president, Learning & IT, at the University of Wisconsin. "We are encouraged by the results of this go-live and look forward to the full implementation of PeopleSoft's Campus Solutions."

In a statement, Ciber said that about a quarter of Oracle and PeopleSoft higher education customers have worked with the company to implement and/or upgrade their software.
