Graduate Institution to Offer Classes Through Facebook

Students at Saybrook University, a graduate institution located in San Francisco, CA, will soon have a new way to attend class. The Bay Area school is debuting a new program this January that will allow students to take classes through Facebook.

Called ProjectX, the program is designed to education through "discussion and relationship building," according to a statement released today by the institution. Professors will conduct classes by starting conversations, using videos and other resources, through the social networking site. Students will respond to the discussion by posting comments, questions, and Web resources.

ProjectX will kick off next month with four classes:

  • Music, Health and Healing: Notes on the Key to Wellness. Students will use personal experiences and subject resources to understand how music affects health.
  • What in the World is Going On?: Evolution and the Meaning of Life. An examination of the theory of evolution and how an individual's belief in this theory affects his or her world view.
  • Effective Therapy and Healing in a Diverse World. A look at various approaches to healing and growth, including psychotherapy and indigenous methods to healing.
  • Evolutionary Leadership for Sustainability: From Systems Thinking to Systems Being. A look at leadership styles, sustainability, and organizational systems.

Additional information about the new program, classes, and registration can be found online.
