Kira Talent Launches New Recruitment Tool

Kira Talent has launched a new tool for its video talent assessment platform, Kira Academic, designed to improve student admissions.

Dubbed Kira Methodology, the new tool comprises "two major features: Competency-based assessments and the rubrics rating system," according to a news release. "The features work together to help admissions teams define the attributes most important to their programs and design the application to accurately identify students that possess them."

The competencies feature helps schools to examine successful current students to determine traits best suited for program success, then crafting questions around them. The rubric is then used to objectively rate applicant responses objectively on a three-point scale. Scores are then totaled to create a competency fit score.

"Many schools have a major issue when it comes to the admissions process — they don't know what they're looking for in applicants. Transcripts and test scores measure cognitive abilities, but we know great students are more than just test scores," said Craig Morantz, CEO of Kira Talent, in a prepared statement. "Every program is unique and each one is looking for applicants with particular strengths. We wanted these traits to be a crucial part of every decision so admissions teams make the right selection when it comes to program fit."

"The Kira Methodology is innovative and personalized. The team does an excellent job helping us identify the core competencies for our program, which allows us to assess applicants more efficiently," said Danielle Curtis Dailey, director of enrollment management at Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. "With the process we feel confident that each student we select is the right fit for our program and has been admitted without any biases."
