Online Learning Consortium Adds Scorecards to Evaluate Digital Offerings

The Online Learning Consortium (OLC) yesterday released three additional scorecards to help faculty and administrators evaluate digital course offerings. More than 400 higher ed institutions use OLC’s Quality Scorecard Suite to assess their online and blended learning programs and initiate planning efforts, according to organization’s website.

In addition to the “Administration of Online Programs” (launched in 2010) and “Blended Learning Programs” (launched in 2015), the suite now includes the following:

  • OSCQR Course Design Review,” a course-level scorecard comprising “50 standards that draw from best practices in instructional design and accessibility” which can be used to improve courses;
  • Quality Course Training and Instructional Practice,” a comprehensive scorecard that helps evaluate the overall digital classroom experience in-depth; and
  • Digital Courseware Instructional,” an ancillary scorecard focused on courseware attributes that positively impact student success, especially for underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds.
