Moraine Valley CC Revamps Administrative Systems

Moraine Valley Community College in Illinois has selected Datatel Colleague and ActiveCampus Portal software to replace a legacy administration system. A committee consisting of campus-wide representatives chose Datatel after an 18-month evaluation of administrative software systems.

"Colleague best satisfied the most critical requirements of the groups represented on our selection team," said Jack Leifel, CIO. "The committee was impressed with Colleague's strong student system, an extremely important feature for a community college such as ours. Datatel's active user community in Illinois was also very impressive, providing a forum to share information and learn best practices."

In addition to Colleague, which will provide support for student enrollment and services, financial management, and human resources, Moraine Valley, which has 48,000 students, will deploy Datatel's ActiveCampus Portal, a user-customizable workgroup collaboration and social networking system. Built on Microsoft SharePoint technology, ActiveCampus Portal provides a single point of access for users across campus.

"ActiveCampus Portal made a huge impression on the committee because of its ease of use and look-and-feel," said Leifel. "Our staff, students, and other constituents will benefit from the Portal's familiar and intuitive interface, especially during our registration period."
