CMU To Host Game Education Summit in June

Carnegie Mellon University will play host to the 2009 Game Education Summit, slated for mid-June. The conference focuses on training future game developers and will include industry speakers from Divide by Zero Games, Electronic Arts, Obsidian, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, and Ubisoft, among others.

The Game Education Summit will offer seven tracks, including Games and Narrative; Industry and Education; Course and Curriculum; Games, Art, and Creativity; Tools and Education; Serious Games; and IGDA Curriculum Design. (Additional track details can be found here.)

"Across the country, universities are investing heavily to build curriculum to teach the game designers of tomorrow," said Mark Chuberka, director of the Game Education Summit, in a statement released this week. "But game instruction is still a relatively new field. This conference brings instructors together with industry professionals to talk about what skills students need and to hear the top instructors discuss teaching methods and cutting edge theory."

The 2009 Game Education Summit will be held June 16 to 17 at the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University. Early registration runs $349. Registration at the door will cost $399. Further information can be found here.
