TechSmith Brings Camtasia to the Mac

TechSmith has released Camtasia for Mac OS X, a screen capture and audio and video editing tool (not to be confused with the Camtasia Relay lecture capture system, which already works on Mac).

Camtasia for Mac is a screen recording utility that also includes support for recording simultaneously from connected audio and video devices, including the Mac's built-in iSight camera, DV cameras (via FireWire), line-in, and built-in mic. Audio can be captured from other applications and files as well.

It also includes editing, compositing, and encoding tools. The editor provides a non-linear editing interface with a traditional NLE timeline with drag-and-drop support for video clips from the media bin. It also includes special effects and transitions.

For output, Camtasia for Mac supports various QuickTime formats, H.264, AVI, DV Stream, and 3G, as well as the audio-only formats AIFF and AU. It can also output directly to Screencast.com and YouTube.

Camtasia for Mac is available now for the introductory price of $99 per single-user license. It supports supports Mac OS X 10.5.6 and later, including the soon-to-be-released Snow Leopard. A free 30-day trial version is also available. Further information can be found here.
