Canon launches LCoS Projector for Medical Applications

Canon has rolled out an LCoS projector for medical educators, one with a feature that displays digital CAT Scans, X-Rays, and MRIs accurately on a screen that's considerably larger than a PACS workstation monitor.

The new projector, the REALiS SX7 Mark II D, features a screen size between 40 inches and 300 inches, an SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050) resolution, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, and a brightness of 4,000 lumens.

For displaying CAT Scans, X-Rays, and MRIs the projector uses a DCIM simulation mode. The mode, which is the only major option that separates the REALiS SX7 Mark II D from a similar projector recently released by Canon, the REALiS SX7 Mark II, reproduces black and white medical images in different ambient light conditions and has 21 grayscale tone settings for professional adjustment.

Other features include a 1.7x powered/12x digital zoom, a throw distance of 3.9 feet to 29.5 feet, digital image shift, a 3,000-hour lamp life, a 1 watt mono speaker, a quiet mode, and support for Adobe RGB and sRGB.

Input and output terminals include component input, composite, DVI-I 29pin, RCA, three stereo audio inputs, analog PC out, stereo audio output, and RS-232.
