Alloy Software has released Alloy Navigator 6, an update to its Navigator integrated IT operations management application.
Alloy Navigator is a software platform for support of everyday IT department tasks built around the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices and concepts. The overall design of the product aims to function as an integrated whole as opposed to a collection of modules interfacing with one another.
Alloy Navigator 6 features a number of improvements geared toward management of service levels, workflow, and infrastructure changes. The new release also includes built-in approval methods, report automation, administrator alerts, integration with Microsoft Exchange, and a new announcements feature to inform users of downtime or other service interruptions.
Alloy Navigator 6 requires the Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, or 2008 (Express) database for installation; the 2005 Express edition is included. Pricing is figured on a per technician and computer node basis. The price may be discounted for upgrading or for educational or non-profit institutions, and a free 30-day downloadable trial is available.
