Epson Intros High-Brightness LCD Projectors

Epson has unveiled two high-light-output portable LCD projectors with image correction features, built-in audio capabilities, and support for HDMI video.

For image correction, the new projectors--the PowerLite 1850W and the PowerLite 1880--have a horizontal keystone slider that can be used to square the projected area of an equipped projector when the unit is placed to left or right of a screen, as well as a quick corner feature that enables the corners of a projected image to be adjusted individually.

The PowerLite 1880 offers a brightness of 3,700 lumens, a 1,024 x 768 (XGA) resolution, wired networking, support for message broadcasting, and support for Crestron RoomView software (a Web-based multi-user management tool).

The PowerLite 1850W has a brightness of 4,000 lumens and a 1,280 x 800 (WXGA) resolution.

Both projectors can display images and play audio files from a computer or USB thumb drive.

Additional features include:

  • A 1.6x optical zoom;
  • Direct power on and off;
  • Support for HDMI video; and
  • A 10-watt speaker.

The PowerLite 1850W and the PowerLite 1880 will ship in September and be covered by a two-year parts and labor warranty.

The WXGA PowerLite 1850W will sell for $1,299, while the XGA PowerLite 1880 will sell for $1,399.

Additional details will be available on Epson's education portal.
