Ekahau Releases WiFi Site Survey Tool for Android Devices
IT managers and engineers can now use their Android smartphone or tablet to survey and troubleshoot their wireless network.
Ekahau has released Mobile Survey 2.0, a new version of the company's site survey app for enterprise WiFi networks. With this release, users can now conduct site surveys on their Android tablet or smartphone and then export the data to their laptop for further review and analysis.
The upgraded app features touch screen capability and image functions. For instance, users can import an image of a floor plan, or take a picture of a fire escape plan, then walk through the respective area, tapping their location on the touch screen. The app will display network infrastructure layout—including wireless access point locations, configurations, and current status—as well as coverage heat maps on the user's mobile device.
Additional features include:
- Active and passive on-the-spot network testing for data, voice, and location tracking systems
- Automated background monitoring: only disturb user when network fails
- Continuous network monitoring, from the client device perspective, including error logging
Mobile Survey 2.0 is now available for $399. Additional details about the app can be found on Ekehau's site.
