Cengage and Foliotek To Integrate ePortfolio

Two education technology companies will be working together to provide instructors with the capability to set up eportfolios for use with class materials. Cengage Learning, a major textbook and digital media company, and Foliotek, which has an electronic portfolio management system, plan to deliver a single offering that integrates a specific curriculum with portfolio management capabilities.

The new deal will provide users of Cengage resources with a bundled Foliotek eportfolio for use in their courses. Instructors will receive automatic access to moderator and community creation capabilities with simplified enrollment. They can package eportfolio resources with the course materials for simple and secure access to student documents and other kinds of class output, such as videos, artwork, and case work. Also, faculty will be able to create and moderate portfolio-based "communities" and allow students to enroll in those communities at a discounted rate.
