Allegheny College Selects Cloud-Based CRM Solution for Student-Centered Admissions Process

Allegheny College, a small liberal arts college in Pennsylvania, plans to implement a cloud-based constituent relationship management (CRM) solution in its admissions and financial aid departments to support and develop students' "unusual combinations" of interests and talents.

Students at the college are required to choose both a major and minor, and the college encourages diverse areas of study to help its students develop big picture thinking. In keeping with this approach, the college's admissions process requires evaluation of each student's unique fit to the campus. The college has been using a student information system (SIS) for this process, but its limited CRM functionality has made it difficult for staff to target students' interests effectively.

To solve this problem, the college has selected Enrollment Rx, a cloud-based CRM solution for higher education. Enrollment Rx is based on the salesforce.com enterprise cloud computing platform, and the solution offers extensibility and scalability, so the college won't need to overhaul the system as it grows, according to the company.

Enrollment Rx enables more customized communication, facilitates real-time collaboration, streamlines back-end processes, and automates admissions workflow, according to the company. Enrollment Rx will also assist the college with integration paths to existing systems, such as the Ellucian Colleague SIS.

"We need to embrace communications processes that conform to each student's unique characteristics," said Rick Holmgren, CIO and associate dean at Allegheny, in a prepared statement. "Doing so requires a flexible and intuitive communications platform, which we have found in Enrollment Rx and salesforce.com."

Allegheny College plans to implement Enrollment Rx in its student admissions and financial aid departments and is looking for ways to extend its use to other areas of the college. The college plans to go live with its comprehensive prospective student portal in August 2013.
