CourseSmart Adds Interactive Content, Flexible Rental Options

Following on the heels of its recent announcement of Subscription Packs, CourseSmart, a provider of digital course materials, has announced the availability of interactive content and flexible rental options.

CourseSmart has added tools to support the creation and delivery of interactive content with the goal of making digital learning materials more immersive, visual, and engaging for students. The platform uses the latest EPUB 3.0 and HTML5 standards to let publishers create, manage, and publish interactive content more easily. Users can now access embedded audio and video, quizzes, pop-up glossary terms, 3D models, and other assets. According to the company, CourseSmart "expects this new capability, along with increasing industry demand for interactive content, to encourage publishers to prioritize and grow their interactive offerings to make them more widely available to students."

The newly announced flexible rental options allow students and educational institutions to select the rental length that fits their needs, although rental duration options are determined by the publisher and may vary between titles. CourseSmart currently has more than 15,000 flexible rental options titles available and will continue to add new options, according to the company. An unlimited option allows students to access the title past the term of their course, and another option allows students to purchase the e-textbook for life.

According to the company, CourseSmart currently offers more than 40,000 titles from more than 60 publishers. Further information about the new interactive content and flexible rental options, as well as Subscription Packs, can be found on CourseSmart's site.
