Plato Courseware Expands Career Technical Education Offerings

Online learning solutions provider Edmentum has launched eight career technical education courses for its Plato Courseware online learning curriculum, with 24 more CTE courses to be released in 2014.

The new course courses are intended to prepare students for a "wide range of in-demand technical careers," according to the company, and offer the same interactive, multi-media content as Plato Courseware's other blended learning programs, which include core subjects such as English language arts, math, science, and social studies, along with electives, world languages, and AP courses.

The CTE offerings feature customizable implementation, allowing educators to implement the courses in a lab setting, a virtual experience, or a blended learning environment that "incorporates both online and traditional classroom courses," according to Edmentum.

"CTE has proven to be a critical link between the education system and the changing job market, providing a pathway for students into high-skill and high-demand professions," said Andrew Plackner, senior product manager for Edmentum, in a release. "These new Plato Courseware offerings will allow students to explore a greater variety of interests. The new courses also can help educators engage with students who might feel disconnected from core curriculum or need help preparing for paths other than attending a four-year college."
