Bannister Lake Debuts Software for Campus Closure Notifications

A new solution enables campuses to notify students and community members about school closures due to extreme weather conditions.

BL Snow Day, from Bannister Lake, allows college and university campuses, television stations, and municipalities to broadcast information about school cancellations, event cancellations, early dismissals and more through multiple channels. Notifications can be sent, in real time, to the Web, mobile devices, digital signage networks, and campus TV systems.

The solution features a Web-based workflow that allows content producers to "pre-schedule content for future play out, and set automatic story expiration," according to a company statement. The software also includes automation and editorial tools that allow producers to curate local news stories, images, and video into content packages for later broadcast.

BL Snow Day integrates with broadcast graphics systems that read RSS, XML, ODBC, and JSON feeds. The solution is available in an enterprise server version, a cloud-based SaaS version, and solid-state, portable Nano turnkey version. Further information is available at www.bannisterlake.com.
