Texas A&M Lab Unveils 3D Calculus Game

Triseum, a Texas-based education gaming company founded through the LIVE Lab at Texas A&M University, has unveiled a new game focused on calculus. Announced at Educause 2016, the Variant: Limit game aims to teach students challenging calculus concepts through an immersive 3D world.

The game features:

  • A 3D world that allows players to “manipulate objects by mastering calculus principles and theories,” according to the game website;
  • A compelling narrative with clear goals;
  • Game interactions that allow players to explore at their own pace; and
  • Game analytics that allow instructors to monitor student engagement.

Students will delve into the topics of finite limits, continuity and infinite limits, and gain feedback on their performance throughout the game. To learn more, watch the video below or visit the Variant site.
