Students at Bentley University in Massachusetts can now pay their tuition with cryptocurrency. The institution partnered with crypto exchange platform Coinbase to accept payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum and USD Coin, as part of its "long-standing commitment to leading the way in the early adoption of technologies changing the business world," according to a news announcement. Bentley also plans to accept gifts and donations in cryptocurrency form.

Student interest in cryptocurrency and its underlying technology infrastructure is high, according to Alex Kim, a Bentley student who launched a student-led blockchain group called the Bentley Blockchain Association last fall. "Students have a real interest in knowing more about blockchain, decentralized finance and cryptocurrency investments," he said. "These technologies are influencing the industries where they will be working."

In response to the topic's popularity, Bentley is also creating a new crypto finance course on blockchain applications and decentralized finance, which will launch this fall.

"Bentley University is at the forefront in preparing business leaders with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the changing world economy," said university President E. LaBrent Chrite, in a statement. "We're proud to embrace this technology that our students are learning about, which will soon transform the global business landscape they're about to enter."
