U Florida Foundation Takes Appliance Approach to E-Mail Security

The University of Florida Foundation, the University of Florida's fundraising organization, has deployed the Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway, an e-mail security appliance, to help keep donor information confidential.

The U Florida Foundation is using the appliance for for virus and spam protection and for regulatory compliance. The foundation's deployment includes the Proofpoint Secure Messaging module and the Proofpoint Regulatory Compliance module, as well as Proofpoint Virus Protection.

“In addition to addressing the increasing amount of spam that was entering our network, we needed a solution that could automatically place restrictions on certain departments, while also allowing legitimate personnel access to sensitive data,” said Brian Marquis, network systems lead for the University of Florida Foundation, in a statement released Monday. “With the Proofpoint appliance in place, we can easily regulate the flow of our donors’ private information and trust that we have comprehensive protection against both inbound and outbound security risks."
