Iona Aims To Shore Up Data Security
Iona College in New Rochelle, NY is looking to bolster its data security while also protecting students and staff from potential identity theft. The college has signed on with security vendor Identity Force to implement CampusWatch, an education-specific compliance package that couples technologies with training for students, faculty, and staff.
The system is built around what Identity Force describes as an "identity compliance program" and incorporates notification services; identity theft protection services; "detection, restoration and reimbursement tools"; and various training programs for students, faculty, and staff.
"Data Breaches and identity theft are serious threats to colleges and universities across the nation, and students are among the most common victims of identity fraud," explained Iona College President James A. Liguori in a statement released this week. "We are proud to announce that the Iona community is now fully protected from one of the most prevalent crimes in the nation."
"We selected Identity Force because it delivers the most comprehensive and affordable solution to identity theft available on the market," said Kelli Hudson, assistant vice president for student financial services. "The CampusWatch program was a perfect match for us as we worked to eliminate the triple threat of data breaches, identity theft and complying with the complex tangle of federal and state regulations."
Iona College is a private institution serving more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 900 graduate students.
