Kogod Business School Infuses Curriculum and Operations with AI Instruction

The Kogod School of Business at American University in Washington, DC. has announced its curriculum and day-to-day operations will feature artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to ensure that existing and new students and staff will have the training they need to remain current in job skills required for this rapidly advancing technology.

The university will offer 20 new AI and ML courses starting fall 2024, and will also schedule faculty and staff trainings led by industry experts.

Curricular updates include AI prompt engineering and programming, and students will work with R, Python, and AI/ML models. While every Kogod student will be trained to use AI to code, create presentations, analyze data sets, build websites, or run financial analyses, the university said, programs will be divided into two tracks, according to the university announcement:

  • AI Sage: Practical application of AI tools to real-world contexts in courses such as Foundations of Digital Marketing, AI in Entertainment, Predictive Analytics, Text Mining, Python Programming, and Advanced Forensic Accounting; and
  • AI Artisan: Theoretical foundations of AI in courses such as Sustainability and Technology, Consumer Behavior, Negotiations, Marketing and Communications for Business, Managing the Digital Organization, and Principles of Marketing.

Kogod is also offering a STEM-designed M.S. in Analytics. Visit this degree's page to learn more about it.
