RPI, Law School Team to Offer Degrees in Tech Business Law

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has joined forces with a local law school--Albany Law School--to jointly offer two master degree programs in the fall of 2007 that focus on the legal underpinnings of technology development, incubation, and intellectual property.

Albany will offer a master of science degree in legal studies with a concentration in technology transfer. Rensselaer will offer a master of science in commercialization of technology. Both programs will begin in the fall of this year.

"This collaboration was forged between our two institutions due to the rapid proliferation of new technologies, patents and start-up enterprises in the Capital Region,” said David Gautschi, dean of Rensselaer's Lally School of Management & Technology.
