Indiana Rolls Out New Net
With an eye on reliability, scalability and security, the Indiana Institute of Technology has deployed a new campus network using a TeraScale E-300 switches/router and S50 access switches from Force10 Networks.
The combination of the TeraScale E300 at the network core and S50s providing access gives Indiana Tech a network that can scale to 10 gigabit Ethernet for its campus, which serves more than 3,000 students.
Force10's E300 switch/router provides full layer-2 switching and layer-3 routing, 400 Gbps switch fabric capacity, 196 Mbps full-mesh forwarding capacity, and 1.2 Tbps backplane capacity. Additionally, it offers a multi-processor design to reinforce network reliability.
The S50 access switches offer 48 10/100/1,000 Mbps ports and up to four 10 gigabit Ethernet uplinks and can be stacked with up to two additional S50s to provide 144 gigabit Ethernet ports.
